Founded in 2021, the Keys to Artistry Bluefield Institute was initially held in a Southern-style bed-and-breakfast mansion—the Bluefield Inn in Bluefield, WV. As of May 2026, we meet at the Hambleton House Bed and Breakfast in Canton, Ohio. Classic charm, luscious dining, stunning decor, and warm hospitality complement the international-level music making and education fostered in this invitation-only small-group experience. The faculty is headlined by Eugene and Elisabeth Pridonoff, world-renowned pianists and pedagogues and professors emeriti at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Other faculty and participants include University of Mount Union professor emerita Dr. Maira Liliestedt, Dr. Jenny Cruz from Central State University, Janelle Phinney from Northwestern College and NYC-based musicians Ian LeRoy and Rachel Dean, along with many participants spanning different generations and interests from jazz to Classical to song improvisation. Focused on piano, with a significant vocal and instrumental component, this event fosters warm musical relationships, learning across generations and styles, offering attendees masterclasses, recitals, musical forums, teaching sessions, and plenty of informal music-making opportunities. This yearly event remains a highlight of the year for those involved, many of whom return every year.
